I just came back from the pub after Jamie Smarts talk and thought I would write a blog post whilst its fresh in my mind.
Me and Lizzie got to the Pyramid room at 6:30 and started moving the chairs and tables around until we got 40 chairs grouped around the corner with Jamie’s flip chart and bar stool in the corner. By that time I was pretty warm 🙂 We saw Colin the caretaker who we met at Matt Kendles talk and handed over the money.
Jamie got soon after and we introduced ourselves to each other. There was an issue with the light in the corner not being great, but we decided it was as good as it was going to get and left it. Awkwardly someone at the venue then said we hadn’t paid them enough money and we had to show them the email with the agreed price in black and white. That might be an ongoing discussion.
Kudos to Jamie for carrying on during the first half when a steel band of eight year olds really opened up in the room directly underneath us. He could have decided to stop the talk, but he didn’t he carried on. The steel band also carried on at varying volume for the first half. When we reached half time it must have been their bed time because it all went very quiet !
I really enjoyed the talk. I’ll write-up something of the content later, but its late and I have other stuff to do as well before sleep.
A couple of quotes for now :
“We are always living in the feeling of our thinking”
“The feelings are coming from your thinking not from your situation”
After a good talk, we went to the nearby Union Tavern, Jamie joined us there as well.
